ALD chooses Telefónica and Geotab to connect its vehicles in Europe and Latin America

With ALD ProFleet, ALD Automotive is rolling out a connected car solution that provides fleet managers and drivers access to their real-time connected car data. Telefónica and Geotab have been chosen as preferred partners for ALD ProFleet, which launch in 12 countries in Europe and Latin America in 2021.

ALD ProFleet has been designed to facilitate overall fleet management efficiency, optimise fleet utilisation, generate fleet savings, improve the driver experience and contribute to strategic fleet decision making for both corporates and SMEs.

Through onboard data devices that are fitted into each vehicle, ALD ProFleet collects and transmits a broad range of real-time encrypted vehicle data which is stored on a secure, cloud platform. The data is processed, enriched and used to provide a wide range of connected technology fleet services through a customisable portal for fleet managers and dedicated mobile app for drivers.

Connected fleet data allows fleet managers to monitor overall fleet activity to help prevent prolonged vehicle downtime, apply geofencing policies, track CO2 emissions, geo-localise stolen vehicles for recovery, identify fuel optimisation opportunities, implement driver safety initiatives and monitor overall fleet productivity.

ALD ProFleet is fully compliant with data privacy regulations and is based on 10 years of telematics experience.

"ALD Automotive manages more than 1.76 million vehicles in 43 countries. We needed the best and most advanced telematics solution available on the market, so we chose Telefónica Tech and Geotab as one of our preferred providers to help us optimise our connected fleet solution for corporate and SME fleets," explains Álvaro Martínez Robles (pictured on top, centre), Head of Procurement at ALD Automotive.

Ivan Lequerica (pictured on top, right), Geotab's vice president for Southwest Europe, said: "We are proud to collaborate with Telefónica Tech and ALD Automotive, companies that share our vision of mobility, to help our customers meet their environmental sustainability goals, increase safety and improve the efficiency of fleet operations," he adds.

Gonzalo Martín-Villa (pictured on top, left), CEO of IoT and Big Data at Telefónica Tech commented: “Thanks to the knowledge of our team specialising in IoT and Big Data, we are contributing to the digital transformation of ALD Automotive, providing, among other things, advanced data analysis and value to monitor the vehicle fleet more efficiently.”

Plans are underway to roll-out ALD ProFleet across Europe and Latin America starting with over a dozen markets in 2021 and connected car capabilities will be further expanded in the coming months with additional services.
