Hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or full electric – the Kia Niro has your fleet needs covered

Not every fleet is prepared to go 100% electric. Wherever you’re at on your journey, the Kia Niro is the perfect model to transition to an electrified fleet. Learn about the different powertrain options for this popular C-CUV.

With its spacious interior, generous storage space and high-tech connectivity and safety features, the Kia Niro remains a popular choice among fleets. Depending on your fleet’s individual situation, a battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, or hybrid Niro could be the best choice to reduce emissions for your fleet.

Battery electric: zero emissions for short commutes

With zero emissions at the tailpipe, the battery electric Kia Niro is the most eco-friendly powertrain option. With a 64.8kWh battery providing an all-electric driving range of up to 460km (WLTP), this BEV is suitable for more than just short journeys and daily commutes. Employees will also appreciate the smooth and nearly silent drive. From a cost perspective, the initially high investment can be offset by government incentives and lower operating costs over the course of the vehicle’s lifetime, as BEVs have lower maintenance costs than combustion-engine cars.

Plug-in hybrid: the best of both worlds

The plug-in hybrid Niro combines the benefits of electric and petrol power, offering improved fuel efficiency and a longer all-electric driving range than traditional hybrids but also the assurance of a petrol engine. It can be charged with either a standard home outlet or an EV charging station for maximum flexibility. A Smartstream 1.6 GDI gasoline engine works in tandem with a 62kW e-motor, resulting in combined maximum power of 183 PS and an electric-only range of up to 65km (WLTP).

Niro hybrid: for maximum fuel efficiency when charging isn’t an option

Even fleets without access to charging stations can benefit from the increased fuel efficiency and reduced emissions of the hybrid Niro. The same four-cylinder engine as the PHEV and a 32kW electric motor deliver a combined output of 141 PS. As with other electrified vehicles, the Niro Hybrid benefits from regenerative braking, capturing and storing energy that would otherwise be wasted. Drivers can benefit from maximum driving efficiency without the need to charge. And with no range anxiety, the hybrid Niro is also suitable for longer journeys and continuous driving.

Consider adopting one of three electrified Kia Niro variations to reduce emissions and improve efficiency based on your market, company, or region's EV readiness.
