What3Words in Ford cars

Ford has announced that its SYNC3 infotainment platform is now giving drivers in Europe and North America the possibility of precise voice-activated navigation via the What3Words function. This can be connected to the vehicle by the driver via their SYNC 3 infotainment platform. The system divides the map into a grid of 3m x 3m squares, each of which has a unique three-word address made of three dictionary words. These can be designated either by voice or text input. The system recognises six languages.

This is the first time that What3Words has joined forces with a major carmaker. The company says that its system is intended to bring drivers faster and more accurate navigation as well as enabling navigation to anywhere, including destinations without an address.
