Athlon appoints Emiel van Onzenoort as Chief Operations Officer

Athlon, one of Europe’s leading vehicle leasing and fleet management companies, has appointed Emiel van Onzenoort as the new Chief Operation Officer (COO).

In his new role, Van Onzenoort will take charge of the operations across Athlon, reporting to CEO Christian Schüler.

Van Onzenoort replaced Peter Westermann, who will start a new position at Mercedes-Benz Mobility in Germany. Mr Westermann will support Emiel van Onzenoort during the transition period.

Van Onzenoort has a deep background at Athlon, taking the role of COO between 2013 and 2021 before joining AGCO Finance as General Manager for Region West. Van Onzenoort had enjoyed an international career before his experience at AGCO Finance and took assignments in General Management and Finance in Russia, Turkey and Hungary at DLL. After two years at AGCO Finance, Van Onzenoort returns to lead Operations across Europe and joins the Athlon Management Board.

Having Master Degrees in Business Economics and Finance & Control, Van Onzenoort also studied leadership at INSEAD and Nyenrode. Thanking Peter Westermann for his contributions to Athlon, Christian Schüler welcomed Van Onzenoort by underlining his “profound knowledge of the business and a customer-centric mindset.”

Emiel van Onzenoort said that joining Athlon again is very exciting and added, “It is a privilege to lead the Operations domain across the company. As a team, we will support serving our customers in the best way.”
