RELX introduces EV salary sacrifice car scheme for 5,200 employees

RELX, the global supplier of information-based analytics and decision tools, has introduced an electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme for its 5,200 employees in the UK.

The car scheme can save employees over 40% on the cost of a car lease, depending on the rate at which they pay income tax, by enabling them to fund the lease out of gross salary, before income tax and National Insurance Contributions have been taken.

Employees who take up the offer of a salary sacrifice car do have to pay company car tax on the benefit, but for electric vehicles in the UK this is based on only 2% of the price of the car when new.

RELX has appointed JCT600 Vehicle Leasing Solutions (VLS) to deliver the scheme and worked closely with the leasing and fleet management company to develop a scheme that supports RELX’s Climate Pledge to become ‘Net-Zero’ by no later than 2040.

Vanessa Ancill-Griffiths, Senior Manager, HR & Professional Services, FM - Global Procurement at RELX, said: “When choosing a partner to deliver our new car scheme it was important for us to not only believe in the solution being provided but also in the people delivering it. We spent considerable time with our shortlisted providers to get to know the people we would be working with.”

In the first week of the scheme going live, 17% of the 5,200 eligible employees expressed an interest in taking a salary sacrifice car.Drivers access the scheme via VLS’s driver portal, Origo, which provides employees with policy documents, education materials, quotes, vehicle comparisons and allows them to place orders based on their individual specification.
