Alphabet’s EV portfolio up 77% in jubilee year

Alphabet turns 25 years old in 2022. It can celebrate its silver jubilee with stellar annual results. Order volume went up by more than 18%, and the lease company’s EV portfolio increased by 77% versus the previous year.

Alphabet was founded in the UK in 1997, as a fleet management subsidiary of the BMW Group. In the quarter century since, it has evolved into a major mobility provider across Europe, with a fast-expanding portfolio. In 2005, it had around 100,000 vehicles on the road. Today, that figure stands at around 700,000.

“Guiding principle”

Despite the ongoing pandemic and semiconductor crisis, Alphabet had a successful 2021. While its total portfolio remained stable, the order volume went up to nearly 250,000 vehicles in total (+18%). Even more remarkable was the rapid growth of Alphabet’s BEV and PHEV portfolio, which grew to 46,000 vehicles (+77%).

Said Markus Deusing (pictured), Alphabet International CEO: “Sustainability is our guiding principle for the future. In 2022, Alphabet aims to further increase the electrified share of new business up to 30%, and we will continue our mission of driving awareness and demand for sustainable, greener fleet options, since this is of particular importance for achieving climate targets.”

Corporate identity

Alphabet has been electrifying fleets since 2013, under the AlphaElectric flag. Digitisation has an even longer history with Alphabet, which in 2010 was the first lessor to launch an app for its drivers, called AlphaGuide. Electrification, digitisation and the resulting flexibilization will remain key to Alphabet’s future offer.

In 2021, Alphabet also launched a new corporate identity, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and customer-centricity. Hence the new brand promise: Your Mobility. Made easy.
To keep that promise, Alphabet will expand its digital products and services, with the launch in 2022 of a brand-new Self-Service Portal. This is aimed at simplifying customers’ lives by offering a single digital point of entry for fleet decision makers to all Alphabet products and services.
