Driving to Zero – Navigating the transition to net zero fleet with Claire O'Neill

Ahead of COP26, the most important climate summit yet, experts from LeasePlan are hosting an online event on October 29, exploring how your organisation can accelerate its shift to electrification.

For the global business community, sustainability is no longer a ‘nice to have’. Environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues have become mainstream and, with COP26 beginning on October 31, organisations of all sizes should be focused on their role in the transition to a net-zero emission society.

What does this mean for transport?

Road transport accounts for a fifth of Europe’s CO2 emissions, so electric fleets are a vital component of our more sustainable future. The EU’s Clean Vehicles Directive has set a 2030 target for large corporates (>25 vehicles) to operate zero-emission fleets, and rapidly evolving technology means that change is becoming ever easier – and more desirable.

LeasePlan is leading that charge. As a global provider, we’re already working closely with organisations as they decarbonise their fleets – it’s reflected in the electric vehicle share of new orders doubling between 2019 and 2020. By the end of the decade, we’re aiming for net zero across our entire funded fleet.

Time for action

To help organisations prepare for the transition to electric motoring, LeasePlan is hosting an online event ahead of COP26. The Driving to Zero event brings together experts from the fields of climate, energy and sustainable mobility to explain how businesses like yours can benefit. The event also offers insights from our latest strategy updates.

Speakers include (from left to right in the image below):

  • Claire O'Neill, Managing Director for Climate and Energy at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, and former President-Designate of COP26
  • Gine Nauta, Global Account Director at LeasePlan
  • Berno Kleinherenbrink, Chief Commercial Officer at LeasePlan
  • Moderator: Mike Lightfoot, Chief Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Officer at LeasePlan

The event will take place on October 29 at 13:00-14:00 (CET), and delegates can register online here: https://leaseplancommunity.connectid.cloud/register
