Sixt: Pflanz and Adams get promoted and join board

Sixt is adding two leaders from within its own ranks to its management board. Vinzenz Pflanz (pictured left) and James Adams (right) will join the board on 1 October. From that date, they will also be promoted to new roles within the company. Mr Pflanz will be appointed Chief Business Officer (CBO), Mr Adams Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

The expansion of Sixt’s management board reflects the company’s strong growth over the past decade – with revenues up 136%, international business increasing from 29% to 70%, fleet size doubling and staff increasing by more than 130%. It also shows Sixt is keen to keep expanding (its business model), internationalizing (its markets) and digitizing (its products and services).

“Strong partnerships”

Vinzenz Pflanz (50) has over 26 years’ experience in international mobility services, with excellent connections throughout the entire industry.

  • Prior to joining Sixt, he spent six years as CCO at Fleet Logistics, a leading fleet services provider in Europe.
  • A Munich native, Mr Pflanz started with Sixt in 2016, as Chief Sales Officer. In 2017, he became President Corporate Sales of the Sixt Group, responsible for sales and products across all subsidiaries and segments worldwide.
  • As Sixt’s CBO, Mr Pflanz will be responsible for global vehicle purchasing and sales.

“Sixt’s success is based, among other things, on strong partnerships with OEMs and business customers. So it’s only logical to leverage further potential and future synergies by merging the Vehicle Purchasing and Sales divisions, and to intensify the cooperation with our partners via even better-tailored products, as well as joint projects”, said Mr Pflanz.

“Delighting customers”

James Adams (39) is a proven digital business expert. As a Brit, he will be the first non-German Board member in the history of Sixt.

  • Prior to joining Sixt, Mr Adams was CCO of the mobility and transportation division at Booking.com, one of the world’s largest travel platforms. He’s also been the Managing Director of Rentalcars.com, the world’s largest car rental platform.
  • Mr Adams joined the company in 2020 as CEO of Sixt UK.
  • As Sixt’s CCO, James Adams (39) will be responsible in particular for revenue management, global web and app products, pricing, and yield management.

“Sixt’s mission to be the world’s leading premium mobility provider is based on delighting our customers every day, by connecting them with the right vehicle in the right place at the right time – for the right price”, said Mr Adams. “In my new role, I’ll focus on helping Sixt do better every day, driving our profitable growth by creating the most compelling customer experience through digital and product innovation.”

“Further growth”

“We can look back on a decade of strong growth and continuous internationalization and digitalization. We now want to take this new size of the Group into account, and at the same time set the course for further growth”, say Alexander Sixt and Konstantin Sixt, the company’s co-CEOs.

“The appointment of Vinzenz Pflanz and James Adams will play a decisive role in driving Sixt’s successful international growth and digitisation course”, said Erich Sixt, Chairman of the company’s Supervisory Board.

Besides the two new appointments, the Management Board of Sixt SE consists of Konstantin and Alexander Sixt, as well as Nico Gabriel (COO) and Prof. Dr. Kai C. Andrejewski (CFO).
