Want to learn from the Global Fleet Manager of the Year?

At last November’s Fleet Europe Awards, Jorge Fernández (Roche) was selected as Global Fleet Manager of the Year. How did he win that award? And, more importantly, what can you learn from his example? Hear him explain in person on 27 May, at the Global Fleet Conference in Rome.

There are many excellent reasons to attend the Global Fleet Conference 2020 (25-27 May, Rome). But if you’re a regional or global fleet manager – and have ambitions to match the scale of your responsibilities – surely one of the more exciting ones is the chance to learn first-hand from the best in the business.

Governance model
As Global Category Manager Fleet at Roche, Jorge Fernández (pictured) and his team manage a global fleet of more than 14,000 vehicles. Together with his three Regional Category Managers (in North America, Europe and APAC), Mr Fernández has successfully developed a new governance model to harmonise financing criteria, processes and vendor management for all company divisions and all regions.

This was achieved in line with Roche’s green guidelines and while preparing the transition to mobility packages, electrification and connectivity. The model comes with quantifiable ambitions: -20% in fuel consumption and emissions; an increase in preferred vendors usage to 90%; and the extension and merger of European and North American strategies to the rest of the world.

Excellent analysis
The Fleet Europe Awards jury was impressed by the excellent analysis Mr Fernández provided of the cost elements of his strategy.

Mr Fernández will be the focus of an entire session on the third and final day of the Global Fleet Conference. The session, titled ‘Recipes for Global Fleet Management Success’, will centre on setting up a fleet strategy that combines global principles with regional efficiency.

Among other things, Mr Fernández will focus on finding the right balance between the requirement for compliance and the need for flexibility; and between cost efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction. Of course, attendees will have the chance to put their questions to Mr Fernández.
