Webinar: The time to electrify is now

There is no reason to try and hold back the electric wave. The circumstances are right, the TCO story adds up and driving battery-electric vehicles is perfectly feasible thanks to a Piece of Mind approach of OEMs like Jaguar Land Rover.

That is what participants in last Thursday’s webinar, “How to electrify your fleet without compromise”, learned from Simon Dransfield and Raynald Roger from Jaguar Land Rover. One of their customers, EV missionary Hanno Klausmeier from SAP Labs France, was happy to elaborate on the successful implementation of EVs in his fleet – including 20 Jaguar I-Pace.

“The uptake of electric vehicles is still largely driven by the policy environment. The ten leading countries in EV adoption all have a range of policies in place to promote the uptake of electric cars,” explained Mr Dransfield, General Manager Fleet & Business at JLR Europe.

“We are always talking about the lack of infrastructure, but we always underestimate the number of charging points, which develops very quick. Across Europe, there are already more than 100.000 “AC” charging points, and more than 5000 DC (or so called Fast Chargers at 50kW+) on the ground.”

“We at JLR have put into place the right programmes to make the adoption of plug-in hybrids and EVs in your fleet as smooth as possible”, stressed Raynald Roger, General Manager Electric Vehicles at JLR Europe. “It’s what we call our Peace of Mind approach.”

Hanno Klausmeier, Managing Director of SAP Labs France, took the attendants through the intriguing story behind his company’s zero-emission strategy. “By 2020, we want 80 percent of our cars to be fully-electric. From 2019 onwards, we will stop buying ICE vehicles.”

Before adopting EVs like the Jaguar I-Pace, SAP Labs France organized test drives, installed a pool car programme and made sure information was flowing through all levels. It has also developed EV-specific software to monitor charging activities – something that clearly raised interest amongst the audience.
