Jaguar offers I-Pace lessees 60 days of ICE flexibility per year
Driving an electric vehicle has never been more feasible thanks to driving ranges of roughly 400 km. That covers nearly all usage scenarios, except if you need to travel far and do not have time to stop and charge along the way. That is why Jaguar France introduces Switch to its leasing customers: a service that allows you to use a regular (ICE-powered) Jaguar or Land Rover for 60 days per year.
Considering a realistic power consumption at higher speeds of 20-25 kWh/100 km and the fact that the I-Pace’s battery holds 90 kWh, you will have to find a charging point every 300 km if you want to avoid running empty altogether - which is ill-advised because bad for the battery and your stress levels.
To top the I-Pace up from 0 to 80%, Jaguar says you need about 45 minutes at a 100-kW DC fast charger. That is the maximum charging speed supported by the i-Pace. Superfast DC chargers (up to 350 kW) are coming, but they won't be of added value for the Jag.
Most DC fast chargers today only offer 50 kW per hour. That doubles the time needed to go from 0 to 80%, to 90 minutes. The final 20% are filled at a much slower pace. In short: today, long-distance driving is a bit of a challenge with EVs.
A Jag or Land Rover delivered to your doorstep
The Jaguar Switch service is included for anyone who leases an I-Pace through one of the brand’s French dealers. To book an ICE-powered Jaguar or Land Rover, the customer can contact a dedicated call centre, which will organise the transport and have the car delivered to your doorstep.
The number of miles included is unlimited. Customers can choose between the Jaguar F-Pace, E-Pace or F-Type and the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, Discovery, Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque. After using the car, customers can just leave it where they want, as long as it is somewhere in continental France.
