Bridgestone launches tyre subscription MOBOX

Following a successful pilot in France and Spain, Bridgestone announces the Europe-wide launch of MOBOX, a monthly subscription to tyres with full warranty and including other vehicle-related services.

MOBOX will provide its customers with convenience and peace of mind, says Bridgestone, the world’s largest supplier of tyres and rubber.

Societal changes
The company says it is adapting to macroeconomic and societal changes that are causing consumers to shift their attention from products to services.

MOBOX offers an appropriately alternative formula. It offers an all-in-one approach to buying tyres and car maintenance. MOBOX users pay a flat monthly fee, starting from just €7 per month (for two tyres), for a flexible range of services that can be customised to meet specific needs and budgets.

  • The basic package includes new premium tyres, tyre fitting and full warranty for tyre-related damages.
  • It also includes additional vehicle-related services, such as tyre checks and rotation, wheel alignment, air condition refill, wipers and more.
  • Customers can also include extra products and services, such as summer/winter tyre switching, storage services and selected car maintenance.

Free of charge

Thanks to the warranty, MOBOX customers suffering a puncture or other type of tyre damage can get the tyre repaired or replaced free of charge.

MOBOX packages cover main premium tyre brands and provide access to an online platform from which customers can manage their subscription. They also have access to customer support via a (multilingual) call centre.

“Bridgestone is able to identify the challenges consumers face thanks to research and feedback received through its large and growing retail network - including Speedy, Ayme Côté Route and First Stop,” the company says.

Pilot project
Bridgestone piloted MOBOX in 25 First Stop stores across France in October 2017. In June 2018, the pilot was expanded to 30 Speedy shops in France and 20 First Stop stores in Spain.

In the coming months, the subscription service will roll out to more shops in France and Spain, and to other European countries from 2019.

“MOBOX is a simple and affordable alternative to our more traditional services, and it’s fantastic to have seen it successfully develop from a pilot project,” says Paolo Ferrari, CEO and President of Bridgestone EMEA.
