Commercial vehicle registrations in EU down almost 20%

Registrations of new commercial vehicles has declined by 19.8%, January to May 2022, says ACEA (the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association). The drop is largely down to a fall in van sales.

In May 2022, new commercial vehicle registrations suffered a decline across the EU for the 11th consecutive month. In May, the drop was 17.7% (136,410 units). Trucks and busses saw growth on 2021’s figures but the decline in van sales negatively affected overall performance of the commercial vehicle sector. Spain felt it hardest with a drop of 29.3%.

New LCV sales from Jan-May, 2022 were down by 23.2% compared to 2021. Italy had the smallest decline (-8.9%), Spain (-36.1%), France (-24.9%) and Germany (-19.8%).
