Sixt offers e-scooters via app
Sixt is partnering with startup Tier Mobility to offer e-scooters via its app. Tier is the third e-scooter provider to enter the German market, after Lime and Circ. For Sixt, the offer expands strengthens its offering in ‘first- and last-mile mobility’. The Sixt app already offers entirely digital car rentals, car sharing and ride hailing.
Tier’s e-scooters will soon be available in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Bonn and Münster – both via its own app and via the Sixt app. Tier e-scooters will also be available via the municipal transport company apps in Berlin (Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe) and Munich (Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft).
How many e-scooters will be made available, is unclear; the press release mentions “thousands” in total. The figure for Munich alone is reportedly 1,500 units. The plan is to extend the partnership between Sixt and Tier to more cities within Germany and eventually to other countries as well.
