De Weerd is Global Mobility Manager at ASML

Starting 1 March, Pim de Weerd (pictured) is the new Global Mobility Manager at ASML. For the previous four years, he was Global Commodity Manager Mobility at Philips, the Netherlands-based technology multinational. In that role, he was crowned Smart Mobility Manager of the Year at the 2020 Fleet Europe Summit.

Headquartered in Eindhoven like Philips, ASML is a globally significant supplier of machinery to the semiconductor industry, with 32,000 employees worldwide, of which 15,000 in the Netherlands. In his new role, Mr de Weerd will be responsible for the company’s so-called Access & Mobility programme, which focuses on sustainable mobility solutions. Because of the specifics of this new role, Mr de Weerd reports to ASML’s Real Estate department rather than the Fleet department.

“The aim is to get fewer cars driving into work,” explains Mr de Weerd. “Because of the industry we’re in, ASML is growing fast, and that will continue for years to come. We don’t have the infrastructure to accommodate our growing workforce if they all commute by car. So we’ll be organising Mobility Hubs, where cars meet and their passengers use alternative mobility for the last stretch, via bicycle, public transport or other alternative mobility means.”
