Vulog launches “transformative” carsharing update

Vulog, a provider of shared mobility technology, is releasing a “transformative” upgrade of its newest platform, AiMA (Artificial Intelligence Mobility Applied).

The upgrade significantly enhances the features of carsharing schemes around the world. AiMA, which already supports 25 carsharing schemes in cities on five continents, can now support both

  • the flexibility of a free-floating scheme, in which users can access vehicles instantly anywhere within a large geofenced area; and
  • the convenience of scheduled bookings, where vehicles can be reserved for a specific time at a location selected by the user.

This combination “truly alters the carsharing paradigm for users and providers,” says Grégory Ducongé, CEO of Vulog. Operators will no longer have to position themselves either as a short-term or long-term mobility provider.

In so doing, the upgrade unlocks new opportunities for vehicle monetisation, the company says: “This will remove the last hurdle for companies waiting for the perfect time to enter the fast-growing shared-mobility market.”

AiMA’s new feature will be road-tested by Wible (pictured), a carsharing joint venture between Kia and Repsol operating in Madrid. Launched in August 2018, Wible operates 500 Kia Niro PHEVs and boasts 70,000 users.
