Getir acquires Weezy for fast grocery delivery

Turkish fast grocery-delivery company Getir continues to expand in Europe with the acquisition of UK rival Weezy. The financial terms of the deal are unknown.

Experiencing considerable growth during the pandemic, Getir has received around $1 billion investment in 2021, reaching a total valuation of $7.5 billion.

Getir operates in several European countries and the US, and is now focused on an intense promotion campaign across London.

DoorDash becomes the new rival

Deals between fast-grocery delivery companies increased during the pandemic, as most of them continue to see lower revenues while trying to expand market share.

US-based DoorDash recently announced the acquisition deal of Finnish rival Wolt Enterprises OY. The all-stock agreement of €7 billion means DoorDash is also growing along with Getir in Europe.
