Honda starts trial of autonomous cars for MaaS businesses
Honda will start testing autonomous vehicles this month on public roads in Japan. The manufacturer is preparing for the launch of its autonomous vehicle mobility service (MaaS) business in Japan, in partnership with Cruise and General Motors.
Utsunomiya City and Haga Town, Tochigi Prefecture will host the autonomous vehicle trials.
The autonomous Cruise Origin has been jointly developed by Honda, Cruise and General Motors specifically for MaaS companies. In Japan, Honda Mobility Solutions Co., Ltd., a Honda subsidiary, will operate the manufacturer’s MaaS business.
