Ocado implements net zero commuting service

One of the UK’s biggest grocery retailers has launched a fully electric commuting service to help its employees leave their cars behind and travel to and from work in zero emission vehicles.

Staff can use the electric buses for journeys from local towns to and from Ocado Group’s head office.

The dedicated service aims to save 16 tonnes of CO2 per year and provide a useful service for employees who do not live near public transport links.

Mark Potter, Head of Building Services at Ocado Group said: "Ocado is committed to being the UK's most sustainable grocer. This starts at our head office where we encourage employees to swap their car for a sustainable alternative.”

Ocado had already been working with smart bus platform Zeelo to provide a shuttle bus to and from its headquarters, but the net zero option is new.

Sam Ryan, CEO of Zeelo, said: "We're delighted to be introducing our first electric service to the UK market. This is the start of a decade long journey for us in our goal to operate a fully electric fleet by 2030.”
