NS acquires Vaigo

Dutch railway and mobility operator NS has acquired Vaigo, the Belgium-based mobility platform provider.

"The agreement with NS will make it possible to further scale up and extend our platform", says Roeland Van Renterghem, CEO of Vaigo.

With the acquisition, NS wants to offer its business customers a new and convenient platform for sustainable and flexible mobility management. Ultimately, this is aimed at improving the attractiveness of public transport as a component of corporate travel.

“Corona has changed the corporate traveller’s attitude towards mobility, and as a result, employees expect more flexibility in the mobility options offered by their employers,” says Tjalling Smit, member of the NS Board of Directors.

The Vaigo platform can be plugged into the relevant systems of HR, Finance and other relevant corporate departments, making it easier for both employers and employees to manage mobility budgets.

Founded three years ago, Vaigo supports the mobility policies of large corporates in Belgium, including Proximus, ENGIE and VRT. In 2019, Vaigo won the Smart Mobility Start-up of the Year at the Fleet Europe Summit. The acquisition has no influence on the number of employees of either Vaigo or NS; Vaigo’s HQ will move from Belgium to the Netherlands and Vaigo's co-founders Roeland Van Renterghem, CEO, and Tom Broos, CTO, will stay involved and engaged in Vaigo's new journey.
