French True Fleet goes up, up, up

In April 2018, French True Fleets hit a full year of growth, reports Dataforce analyst Gabriel Juhas. 187,000 cars were registered, a 9% growth compared to the same month last year.

The private channel grew 15.5% and was the biggest contributor in terms of growth and volume. True Fleets went up 8.8% and has maintained the positive growth for 12 months now. Special channels finished down 0.5%.

Brand performance

Peugeot retook the number one spot it lost to Renault in March, gaining 20.1%, thanks in large part to its SUVs. Citroën took third place, VW fourth and Ford 5th. The Mondeo is Ford's poster child of the moment, increasing 409.3%.

Audi, Mercedes and BMW took sixth, seventh and eighth place. The final two places in the top 10 were held by Fiat and Toyota, both actually the biggest growers. Fiat recorded a 42.1% increase, Toyota grew 47.7%.

Hybrids are up 82.5% for April and 45.5% year-to-date. This could be due to bonus-malus or in preparation for stricter emissions or a bit of both.

The sub-channel of Long Term Rentals in France continues its growth, rising 16.1% compared to 2017 and all signs indicate this trend is unlikely to abate just yet.
