True fleet and small car sales rise in Spain

The latest figures from Dataforce show a Spanish true fleet market which is continuing to perform exceptionally well. The market analyst finds that following another month of double-digit growth in May, since January 2014 there have been only 8 months of non-double-digit growth, with that January indeed being the last time a negative growth month was recorded in Spanish fleet. The private market had a similar month to fleet with a + 12.3% while special channels were down with - 1.9% recorded. All of this brought the total market registrations to a healthy 141,000 or + 7.4% in terms of growth.

In brand terms, the top 2 brands retained their places, VW in 1st followed by Renault in 2nd, though it was all change in the rest of the ranking. Peugeot in 3rd jumped 3 places while Toyota in 4th was the highest grower in percentage terms with + 31.1%. Audi and Mercedes were the next two brands in the ranking. Local brand SEAT also had a good month thanks to the Arona and its big brother the Ateca, with the brand recording a + 29.1% for May.

Rather than concentrating once again on the unstoppable rise of SUVs, Dataforce has decided to look at the performance of  the small and mini car segments in true fleets, both of which (year-to-date) are very much on  the up. The small car segment is up by 16.0% while mini cars are up a staggering 102.3%!
