Former Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann moves to Door2Door

Ten months after leaving Opel's CEO position, Karl-Thomas Neumann (pictured) is joining the board of the mobility start-up Door2Door. He will also invest in the company.

Mr Neumann, a long-time advocate of electric cars, is reported to have left Opel in June 2017, three months after its acquisition by PSA, because he was dissatisfied with PSA's electric strategy.

Door2Door is no car manufacturer. Instead, it develops software platforms for ride-sharing services, aiming to make it easier for cities to launch those services and to integrate them in existing mobility and public transport solutions.

The company could play a role in enabling multiple passengers in one ride hail vehicle, making them more efficient and reducing congestion. Door2Door claims it can fill a niche in last mile transportation, taking passengers from train or bus stations to their final destinations.
