Alphabet delivers 800 hybrid cars to Belgian healthcare provider

Alphabet Belgium has delivered 1,200 new cars, including 800 hybrids, to a newly created healthcare provider. The first 325 cars have been put into service this week.

The cars were delivered to i-mens, a healthcare organisation providing healthcare services to patients’ homes. The new cars will be used by the nurses who travel from customer to customer every day, as well as their supervisors, who are often on the road to visit customers.

“It will actually be one of the largest fleets of hybrid service cars in Europe,” said Karin Van Mossevelde and Erwin Devriendt, transition CEOs for the organisation.

Having a hybrid fleet is better for the environment, but so is the fact that i-mens combines the services of three operators. Having more customers and employees in a smaller area should help reduce the distance between customers and therefore the number of kilometres driven.

The new cars are being supplied by Toyota through mobility provider Alphabet.

Private lease and carsharing

All i-mens employees may also lease a car privately under advantageous conditions. They have a choice of five hybrid Toyota models or petrol vehicles with low CO2 emissions.

Electric shared cars are available in all i-mens departments for employee service trips. Between 7am and 6 pm, these cars are used exclusively by i-mens but after office hours, members of carsharing provider Cambio can reserve the cars for private use. This also applies to all i-mens employees, who get a free Cambio membership through their employer.

Partners in this programme, apart from the car-sharing company Cambio, are charging infrastructure specialist Blue Corner and Autodelen.net.
