Mercedes-Benz will invest €60 billion into a full electrification strategy
Mercedes-Benz has announced it will invest more than €60 billion into electrification strategy, focusing on profit and growth opportunities in passenger cars and vans between 2022 and 2026.
The announcement bolsters Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to reaching zero-emission by 2030 and sustainability by achieving the margin targets. The strategy includes increasing revenues per vehicle and gradually shifting to a direct sales model, allowing control over pricing and supporting the process through rising incomes in digital services.
Reduced costs and growth in profitability
Mercedes-Benz aims to significantly reduce battery costs until 2030 and reach the budget goals by shrinking the capex and research and development expenses between 2019 and 2025 by 20%.
Ola Källenius, Chief Executive Officer of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG, say they will follow a clear strategy to provide sustainable value. “Our goal is technological leadership in the automotive luxury segment and in the area of premium vans while remaining committed to our ambitious margin targets.”
