Sixt wants to electrify up to 90% of its European fleet by 2030

By 2030, Sixt wants at least 70% and if possible 90% of its European fleet to consist of EVs. That’s the eye-catching central plank of ‘360 Degrees Sustainable’, a holistic sustainability project approved by the Sixt management board that aims to accelerate CO2 reduction and increase demand for smart e-mobility.
Key elements of the project:
- By the end of 2023, the share of EVs in the global Sixt fleet will hit 12% to 15%. By 2030, this should increase to 70% to 90%, all bookable via the Sixt app. This is in line with customer sentiment: 70% say the rental option is a good way to reduce negative ideas about EVs.
- As already announced last year, Sixt will invest €50 million in charging infrastructure at its own branches.
- In 2023, the new product Sixt charge will offer Sixt customers access to most public charging points in Sixt’s European markets – currently around 300,000.
- Sixt charge will be integrated into Sixt ONE, the mobility platform underpinning the Sixt app, which already offers flexible options to rent, share, hail and subscribe to cars and LCVs.
- Sixt will use solar panels and other sustainable means of power generation to make the operation of its own branches and sites climate-neutral by the end of 2023 – five years ahead of previous plans.
“At Sixt, we believe in innovation, progress and freedom. This also applies to climate change. Since every rental of an EV is a paid test drive, Sixt will accelerate enthusiasm for e-mobility,” says Alexander Sixt, Co-CEO of the company.
