11 days to Geneva: Seat reveals plug-in Cupra Formentor

Formentor is the name of Cupra’s very first proprietary cross-over. It is also the very first plug-in hybrid that will be built by mother company Seat.

This concept is powered by a petrol engine (probably the 1.5 TSI) combined with a lithium ion battery pack that enables an electric range of 50 km under WLTP conditions and 70 km if you still believe in NEDC.

Seat is using Cupra for its first phase of electrification program because electrified powertrains will initially be more expensive than traditional internal combustion engines, CEO Luca de Meo said in an interview with Automotive News Europe last year.

Last year, Seat's niche performance brand Cupra sold 14,400 units. After releasing its first model, the Cupra Ateca, the Spanish OEM now plans to double sales within the next three to five years.
