Helion switches LCV fleet to 100 electric VW ID. Buzz vans

A Swiss fleet has converted all of its light commercial vehicles to the electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo.

Helion’s order for 100 of the battery-powered vans represents the biggest fleet handover to date of the ID. Buzz.

Helion is involved in the Swiss solar industry, and will power the EVs with self-generated renewable solar electricity.

CO2 savings

Noah Heynen, CEO of Helion, said the conversion of the fleet to zero emission would save around 300 tonnes of CO2 per year and support the company’s net zero energy transition to combat climate change.

“As of today, around 100 of our technicians from all over Switzerland are on the road electrically and are therefore also ambassadors for our vision and the energy transition," he said.

Charging solutions

Helion set up an operational support group to test the vans, prior to its EV transition. As a result, it has invested heavily in recharging infrastructure at its branches and financed wallboxes for technicians who can charge their EVs at home.

A maximum typical daily operating range of 100km means technicians should rarely have to plug in at public chargers - the ID. Buzz has an official WLTP range of 427km.
