Kia Sportage: Built for Europe

The new pioneering Sportage goes the extra mile. Kia’s compact SUV is crafted and developed specifically for the needs of European customers. No surprise then that it can be ordered with a range of hybrid and plug-in hybrid options.

There is no more demanding marketplace than Europe: if an OEM can make it here, it can make it anywhere. That’s exactly why the all-new Sportage is a dedicated SUV for Europe in its fifth generation, developed to set new benchmarks in its segment, tailored to meet the requirements of the toughest region in the world.

In Europe, customers care for an outstanding design, a rewarding driver experience and a high level of connectivity.

That’s why, firstly, the new Sportage takes a bold stance with distinctive looks. Not only on the exterior, where a characterful form reveals the choice for a brand-new platform, but also on the inside.

PHEV as a first

That interior combines roominess with high-quality materials and intelligent solutions. The centre stage is for a driver-oriented curved display with a 12.3-inch touchscreen serving as the nerve centre for connectivity and functionality.

So, map updates for the navigation system are performed over-the-air, and a personal calendar can be projected on the screen. Smartphone control lets customers check the localization and status of their Sportage in the easiest fashion Kia can think of.

The available powertrains help to further define that European appeal. For the very first time, the Sportage is available as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). A lithium-ion polymer battery pack of 13.8kWh, sitting right in the middle of the car for better balance, is mated to a 66.6kW electric motor. Complemented by the acclaimed 1.6 T-GDI (180PS) total power output rises to 265PS.

Comfortable yet engaging

Never has the Sportage offered a wider array of electrified options, making the journeys ever more frugal and therefore cutting emissions. As a hybrid (HEV) the four-cylinder petrol unit peaks at 230PS, as a mild hybrid (MHEV) power configuration is split between 150PS or 180PS. In its 136PS choice, Kia’s clean diesel engine is also benefitting from MHEV technology. A version with 115PS is also available.

To match the driving experience with the challenging roads throughout Europe, Kia developed a very comfortable yet engaging Electronic Controlled Suspension (ECS) and incorporated the very latest in advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS), DriveWise.

Deliveries of the new European Sportage will start in early 2022, so feel free to already contact your Kia representative for enquiries about our corporate sale programme.
