Mark Howlett, Kia: “We are looking for creative thinking and innovative solutions”

Whether it’s by introducing electric vehicles or by focusing on efficient combustion-engine vehicles, green targets should be on all fleet managers’ minds. That’s why Fleet Europe has created the European Green Fleet Manager of the Year award. Mark Howlett, Fleet Sales Manager, Kia, and sponsor of the award, explains why it matters.

What do you see as the top trend linked to green fleet management with customers?

The top trend that we see is an increasing shift towards alternative powertrain vehicles, be it to conventional hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids or the full-electric vehicle options. More and more, we are seeing requests for quotations that are predominantly focusing on obtaining information about such alternative powertrain solutions…

How does Kia respond to the increasing pressure from cities, governments and companies for zero-emission friendly vehicle mobility?

At Kia, we are proud to be one of the few OEMs that can today offer a wide range of alternative powertrain vehicles to our valued fleet customers. The full-electric Kia e-Niro with a 455km range, Kia e-Soul (driving range: 452km), plus hybrid powertrain options in the Kia Niro, Kia Ceed, Kia Sportage model ranges, which is making the Kia product line-up the go-to brand for advanced powertrain options…

What is your message to multinationals that might be willing to participate in the category Green Fleet Manager of the Year, but are a bit hesitant?

I would say, if you are implementing some new initiatives to improve the environmental impact of your fleet, then we want to hear about them, so put your name in the hat and come and talk to us! We really are extremely interested to hear about any new ideas, technologies and/or driver trainings that are contributing to the greening of the European car fleet, so we would welcome your participation to category of Green Fleet Manager of the Year…

What are you looking forward to or do you hope to see in terms of focus elements with the candidates of the Fleet Europe Awards this year?

Creative thinking and innovative fleet management solutions that are bringing the mobility budget concept to life always stand out from the crowd, particularly in this new mobility era that we find ourselves in.
