These electric concept cars are game-changers

Geneva had lined up 3 concepts of electric cars that next year will turn into very interesting models - for your own fleet or for fleets of shared vehicles. Each of them for very specific reasons: some make electric driving a lot more affordable, others set new benchmarks in terms of electric range and charging speed.

BMW i4. This is more or less what BMW’s all-electric four-door coupé will look like when it comes to market in 2021. The German OEM promises high levels of automated driving, but also an 80kWh battery which should yield 600km of WLTP range. 30 minutes should suffice to reach 80% state of charge. If the price is right, this might be a Tesla-killer.

Dacia Spring Electric. With this new all-electric urban crossover, Renault Group has the firm intention of offering the cheapest EV on the market next year. It is the size of a Zoé and uses the platform and technology of the Renault City K-ZE, a model that has been on the market in China since 2019. The electric range should be about 200km.

Microlino. Admittedly, this is not a real car, but an ultra-light vehicle for last-mile applications. It actually bears a lot of resemblance to the Citroën Ami, but it is clearly more life-style oriented than purely functional. As such, it will also appeal to those who can afford a weekend fun mobile. After a troubled start, Microlino hopes to start building its bubble car later this year.
