Magna could build CASE vehicles for Evelozcity in USA

American start-up company Evelozcity, which unites former BMW executives Stefan Krause and Ulrich Kranz and least year welcomed former Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann, is allegedly in talks with Magna Steyr for the set-up of a production site in America.

According to Automobilwoche a letter of intent has already been signed between the two companies, but neither one of them confirms the partnership.

Evelozcity has three projects cooking in its kitchen: a mass-market electric car, an electric delivery van and an autonomous ride-hailing vehicle, thereby covering all four aspects of the CASE acronym: connected, autonomous, shared and electric.

The company aims to market its first vehicle in the U.S. by 2021, with Europe and China following at a later stage.

Magna Steyr is a division of Canada-based Magna International and builds cars for Mercedes (G-Class), BMW (5 Series and Z4), Toyota (Supra) and Jaguar (E-Pace and i-Pace) in Graz, Austria.
