OTA upgrade brings electric brand Polestar back to its roots
Polestar is often called "Tesla from Sweden" - with a highly anticipated IPO in the first half of next year to come - many people forget that the company began as a tuning shop for Volvos.
An Over-the-Air (OTA) update for the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor brings those motorsport beginnings back to mind. Customers performing the upgrade automatically get more power, added responsiveness, a faster 0-100 km/h sprint time (4.4 sec.) and a sportier driving experience overall.
Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO comments: “The upgrade highlights how connected technologies can transform the relationship a car company has with its customers. The driving experience in Polestar 2 is something we are really proud of. It is such a fun car to drive already, but with this upgrade, we can offer even more to our customers who might be after a little extra excitement.”
The upgrade can be downloaded through the Polestar Extras webshop and costs on average €1,000. As the company seeks to boost its revenue with software services, more applications are expected to follow.
Some 400 customers already took the upgrade.
