French government introduces lower new car incentives
At the end of last year, the French government published new incentives for buying or renting less polluting cars. The new rules entered into force on 1 January.
Cars and LCVs that emit “a quantity of carbon dioxyde lower than or equal to 20g per kilometre” and that have “a list price lower than €45,000” qualify for a bonus or incentive equal to 27% of the vehicle price but limited to €6,000 for private individuals and €3,000 for companies.
The bonus has also been halved to €3,000 for vehicles costing between €45,000 and €60,000. Vehicles with a higher list price are not eligible for this bonus, except for LCVs and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.
The conversion subsidy, intended to help French citizens replace an old vehicle by a new or younger used vehicle, has also been revised. This measures applies to both passenger vehicles and LCVs.
Under certain circumstances, damages vehicles can also benefit from a conversion subsidy.
