Ralf Brandstätter replaces Herbert Diess as VW brand CEO

Volkswagen Group has appointed Ralf Brandstätter as CEO of the Volkswagen brand, a promotion from his current position as the brand’s COO. Herbert Diess stays on as CEO of the VW Group.

Challenges to be taken on by Mr Brandstätter include further efforts to cut costs to help pay for investments in electric and self-driving technology. Software glitches that have interrupted sales of the new Golf and production delays for the electric ID3 also require special attention.
