All company cars go electric in Luxembourg
Energy Minister Claude Turmes has decided all company cars in Luxembourg will need to have electric powertrains in the future.
“We can’t have a future without clean vehicles,” he said. “And the only clean vehicles that don’t emit CO2 are electric cars.”
In the longer term, the Grand-Duchy has high hopes for hydrogen as a future power source, but hydrogen technology today still consumes too much energy.
20% of all cars on the roads in Luxembourg are company cars (around 82,000).
No concrete date has been put forward for the new law and the minster added companies will benefit from government support to set up the required charging infrastructure.
