Amsterdam offers 'Flexpower' charging stations
Amsterdam has rebranded 456 of the 900 EV charging stations on its territory as 'Flexpower' chargers. The new name reflects the fact that they'll provide more power off-peak and when it's sunny; and less so during peak hours.
In order to achieve this, the capacity of the charging stations has been increased by 40%, which means the chargers can provide 3x35 ampere, which allows for a smarter distribution of power across the EVs charging simultaneously.
Tests show that 70% of EVs are charged quicker at a Flexpower charging station than at a regular one.
For the changeover, Amsterdam cooperated with energy provider Vattenfall, knowledge and information centre Elaadni, and network operator Liander.
