Amsterdam wants you to scrap your pre-2005 diesel
If you live in Amsterdam and you are still driving an old diesel vehicle, the city will give you a premium ranging from 500 to 2,000 euros if you send it to the scrap yard between January 1st and November 1st 2020. The latter date is when the next step in the diesel ban strategy takes effect.
The city council has earmarked a total of 4 million euros to stimulate people to abandon their polluting pre Euro 4 car or light commercial vehicle. In total, some 8,000 vehicles are eligible for the scrappage premium.
