Dutch cities may introduce zero-emission zones for LCVs

From 2025, cities in the Netherlands are allowed to introduce zero-emission zones that ban ICE-powered vans and lorries. In order to facilitate the transition, the Dutch government plans a series of subsidies and benefits for companies.

As part of the Dutch government’s climate plans, ministers have agreed to introduce 30 to 40 zero-emission zones for urban logistics from 2025.

Cities that plan to introduce such a zero-emission zone, are required to announce their plans four years in advance.

There will be a transition period until 2027 for vans and 2029 for lorries.
