Macquarie launches Fleete, an EV charging subscription
What’s charging-as-a-service? Well, it’s what Fleete is going to offer. Fleete is launched by the Green Investment Group (GIG), itself part of Macquarie, the Australia-based global financial services group. The new company aims to remove barriers to commercial EV adoption, specifically for bus, truck and LCV operators.
Fleete is a one-stop shop. For a monthly fee and with no upfront costs, the company will take care of installing, managing and financing EV charging infrastructure. Customers won’t just get best-in-class ultrafast charging, but also get access to Fleet’s software platform, for scheduling of charging sessions, also with an eye on optimising energy consumption.
Fleete’s subscription-based service installs high-powered DC chargers, delivering between 60 and 600kW, depending on requirements. The solutions are tailored to three types of location: large-scale depots for overnight parking, hybrid hubs to be used by multiple fleets, and intercity chargers close to motorways.
“The deployment of electric fleet charging infrastructure is currently in its infancy - but demand is set to grow exponentially. Fleete has been created to support this large-scale transition to electric commercial vehicles,” says Dan Bentham, CEO of Fleete (pictured).
Fleete is based in the UK. It is as yet unclear whether or when it will operate in other European countries as well.
