True fleet suffers less in UK
Dataforce has been taking a closer look at the breakdown of UK new car sales by channel in December. The month predictably followed the previous eight months, the analyst says, with a further decline in the British auto market but this was not certainly all doom and gloom. While true fleets were down by 9.9% the Private Market and Special Channels took the heaviest hits with -15.9% and -18.6% respectively making up for a total market decline of 14.4% to finish with 152,000 registrations for December.
In terms of brands, the top five during 2017 in true fleet were Ford, Vauxhall, VW, Mercedes, Nissan. This compares to the overall market top five of Ford, VW, Vauxhall, Mercedes, BMW. Where individual models are concerned, and looking just at true fleet, the top five models of 2017 in the UK were Golf, Qashquai, Astra, Golf, Fiesta.
The SUV segment, Dataforce goes on to say, continues its upward trajectory. As the leading UK true fleet segment it was one (out of three) that managed to stay in the black for December.
