European Parliament wants action against odometer fraud

A coalition of seven organisations welcome the European Parliament vote calling on the European Commission to take decisive action against odometer fraud throughout the European Union, reports the European Council for Motor Trades and Repairs CECRA. This could be a significant step towards restoring consumer confidence in the used-car market.

The parliament calls for a range of measures to tackle odometer manipulation both for new vehicles and for those already on the road. These measures include technical measures to prevent fraud and reporting requirements on odometer readings for Member States.

CECRA is confident the European Commission will act swiftly to implement the required solutions.
