Average vehicle repair costs gone up again, finds CarGarantie
Average vehicle repair costs reached a record high in 2018 and this record has been beaten by a considerable margin in 2019. CarGarantie, the specialist insurer of warranties for vehicle manufacturers and dealers, says average repair costs could continue to go up in years to come.
Each year, CarGarantie assesses the evolution of repair costs for new and used cars, looking at millions of warranty claims for those vehicles. The warranties in the scope have a validity of 12 to 36 months and concern all makes and models.
In 2019, the average repair bill amounted to €551, up from €527 in 2018 – a 5% increase. CarGarantie believes this increase can be attributed to more demanding clients and ever more complex manufacturer regulations. CarGarantie does not believe the average repair bill is likely to go down but it may stay at the current level.
It remains to be seen to what extent higher average repair bills will result in higher leasing rates.
