What not to miss at the 2018 Fleet Europe Remarketing Forum

Get ‘em while you still can: tickets for the Fleet Europe Remarketing Forum (27 November, Barcelona) are running out. No wonder. With its long and eminent list of topics and speakers, the event is the best way to learn, network and get ahead in pan-European remarketing business.

Complex yet fast-moving, vehicle remarketing is a business that requires players to keep their finger on the pulse. Whether it’s the latest developments in technology and legislation, or the hottest trends in fuel preference or consumer behaviour: it’s all part of the job.

Unique affinity
Over the years, Fleet Europe has developed a unique affinity for the needs of the remarketing industry. For the fifth year in a row, the Fleet Europe Remarketing Forum provides professionals with an excellent opportunity to learn from industry experts and peers.

Here are some of the topics and speakers for this year’s edition, which will be held – as always – concurrent with the Fleet Europe Forum, the Fleet Europe Awards, and a host of other events tailored for the European fleet industry.

  • Remarketing and the Powertrain Evolution

Marc Odinius, CEO of Dataforce, will present a picture of the market for diesel, petrol and alternative powertrains and its evolution. The key is in the name of the company: expect an illuminating, data-rich presentation.

Afterwards, Dean Bowkett, Managing Director of Bowkett Automotive Consulting, will host a panel discussion with a number of OEM heavyweights, including Olivier Ferry, Hyundai’s Corporate Sales & Remarketing Director for Europe, about their perspectives on the future of diesel and other powertrains.

Following a coffee break, Alexandrine Breton des Loÿs and Jean-Pierre Gauthier, president and CEO of L’Argus respectively, will chair a panel that will explore the supplier view on diesel-related issues, with the participation of Frederic Van Heems, Group Remarketing Director at ALD, Fritz Hackl, Board Member of European Association of International Vehicle Traders, and Sebastian Fuchs of Cox Automotive Group.

Closing this session will be a presentation on the impact of WLTP on residual values by Sam Keates, Director of Specifications at Autovista Group.

  • Optimisation of online sales

Online sales are increasingly important – for more on the why and how, come listen to the presentations of such experts as Jean-Roch Piat, CEO of BCA Europe, Jost Dieckhaus, remarketing director at Auto1, and Ib Kimose, global director Autorola Solutions.

  • New business models

After the networking lunch, two presentations will delve deep into the impact of behavioural change in younger generations on the practice of remarketing; and on the seismic shift of B2B-only business model to one that also includes the increasingly important B2C channel.

Contributions will be by Alexander Prinssen, eBay’s Director Motors, B2B Sales & Marketing, and Ewout van Jarwaarde, managing director of LeasePlan’s remarketing subsidiary CarNext.com.

  • eCRM/Cross-border remarketing

Cross-border sales are important to maximise the profit potential of used-car sales, but that requires serious amounts of know-how. More on this in a special session that focuses on the European institutional dimension, and also on electronic customer relation management (eCRM).

  • Industry outlook

Closing the event will be a presentation by Wolfgang Reinhold, president of the European Car Remarketing Association (CARA) on the industry outlook for 2020; and a talk by Roland Gagel, CARA board member (and Global Head of Field Services at SGS Services) on the Europe-wide fight against mileage fraud, and other CARA objectives.

All that hard work will be rewarded with a dinner and the Car Remarketing Award Ceremony – and more time to network, discuss and learn, preparing for the remarketing industry of tomorrow.
