With consolidated revenue expected to rise by 5.5% to more than €3.3 billion in 2018, global expertise specialist DEKRA marks 15 consecutive years of growth.

This year, about 40% of DEKRA’s revenue will have been generated outside its home market Germany. The company’s global headcount increased by 2,000 to more than 46,000 employees across more than 60 countries, with more than half of its permanent staff located outside Germany.

DEKRA’s services range from vehicle inspection and expert appraisals to claims services, industrial and building inspections, safety consultancy, testing and certification of products and systems, as well as training courses and temporary work.

In January 2019, DEKRA will transform its current setup in of three Business Units (Automotive, Industrial and Personnel) into eight service divisions, which will integrate its extensive range of services, and eight regions. The aim is to supply customers worldwide with more comprehensive solutions and to focus the capacities for innovation.

“After 15 years of uninterrupted growth, this new basic setup allows us to maintain our commitment to safety across the world in the future, and to continue to achieve sustainable growth,” says Stefan Kölbl, CEO of DEKRA. In the new year, DEKRA will extend its international test network for digital safety. Oversight of the digitization of services and processes will be entrusted to DEKRA Digital GmbH.

Founded in 1925 in Berlin as the Deutscher Kraftfahrzeug-Überwachungs-Verein, DEKRA’s continued growth in 2018 confirms its standing as the world’s fourth largest company in the TIC industry (testing, inspection, certification) and a world-leading expert organisation. The vision for the company’s 100th birthday in 2025 is that DEKRA will be the global partner for a safe world.
