ADESA introduces Artificial Intelligence for vehicle inspections
ADESA is introducing the UK's first Artificial Intelligence (AI) solution for vehicle remarketing. The system, called ADESA IVI (short for Intelligent Vehicle Inspection) is intended for inspecting vehicles during the de-fleeting process.
The appraisal can be carried out by drivers themselves, using a smartphone or tablet. At a set time before they hand back their company car (or car financed via a PCP or PCH scheme), they are guided through a simple and quick process that includes a pre-defined image capture walkthrough.
This removes the need for third-party inspections and thus saves significant amounts of time and money, especially when a vehicle needs repair.
The AI component of the system automatically assess any damage, producing a fully-costed report based on the finance provider's charging method and in accordance with fair wear and tear standards as defined by the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association. Ultimately, ADESA IVI makes it possible for end-of-contract vehicles to be remarketed online even before they have been de-fleeted.
“By harnessing cutting-edge AI technology, ADESA IVI is fulfilling a critical need for the finance, fleet and leasing sectors,” says Jonathan Holland (pictured), managing director for ADESA in the UK. “This will present significant opportunities to save time and money in the remarketing process and produce more accurate appraisals.”
