Retrofit Mobileye ADAS give drivers 20% insurance discount with ACI-SARA

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are usually integrated in the car on the assembly line, but leading automotive safety technology company Mobileye also provides retrofit devices, which can be installed on any car. Interestingly, an agreement has been reached with Italian insurance company SARA Assicurazioni and Automobile Club Italia, giving drivers a discount of 20 percent on their civil liability insurance if they install a Mobileye anti-collision device.

American research lead by the NHTSA and VTRC shows that 8 road incidents in 10 are caused by a distraction that lasts just 3 seconds. That is why ADAS have such a significant role to play, according to Mobileye, Automobile CIub d’Italia and insurance company SARA. Many new vehicles come equipped with such accident avoiding technologies, but the Italian vehicle renewal rate is relatively slow, meaning that the country’s fleet is relatively old.

That doesn’t mean they don’t have access to ADAS, though. Mobileye’s anti-collision systems can be installed in every car, regardless of its age. The devices warn for imminent collisions, giving the driver enough time to respond and avoid a possible crash. That is why drivers who have their car equipped with a Mobileye device get a 20-percent discount on their civil liability insurance premium at ACI’s insurance company, SARA Assicurazioni.
