Munich uses Hexagon to measure shared mobility

The Bavarian capital of Munich has partnered with Hexagon Geospatial to monitor shared mobility services in the city. Munich’s mobility department wants to create a smart monitoring system so it can better understand – and manage – the impact of the various shared mobility services that coexist and interact within the city center.

Hexagon is a provider of sensor, software, and autonomous solutions. Its Geospatial division creates solutions to visualise location intelligence. They will partner with Fujitsu to deliver a Software-as-a-Service solution to track, visualise and analyse the data provided by various shared-mobility providers, including from shared bicycles, shared cars, and shared e-scooters.

The solution, which will be the first of its kind in Germany, will also allow users to receive live updates on the actual condition of the various shared-mobility modes. The project companies say the system is flexible enough to be adapted to the customer’s evolving needs.
