Volkswagen electric carsharing WeShare launched in Berlin
Residents and visitors in Berlin can now get about in a full-electric Volkswagen car, courtesy of WeShare.
WeShare, first announced in August last year, has launched a fleet of 1,500 e-Golf vehicles, which will be followed by 500 additional e-up cars. WeShare will also include a series of ID.3 cars when this model becomes available in mid-2020.
Next year will also see an expansion of the service to Prague, together with Skoda, and to Hamburg.
With this new service, Berlin’s short-term rental market is getting more crowded. BMW and Daimler’s ShareNow is already operational in the German capital, as are services provided by Sixt, Miles, Oply and Ubeeqo. Various providers also offer ridesharing options and several companies are offering shared scooters and bikes.
