Plug-in and Park vs. range anxiety in the UK

Getting rid of range-anxiety in a useful and enjoyable way, that is what plug-in and park is about. The partnership between Zap-Map.com and YourParkinSpace.co.uk in the UK lifts the concept to the next level.

The partnership aims to convert any driveway in the UK in a parking and charging unit, hence facilitating charging points for EVs across the country, and letting homeowners earn some money at the same time.

Homeowners with an electric charging point can list their driveway and charge facility as parking space for EV drivers by advertising them on the YourParkingSpace website, until now but a market place for driveways, private off-street parking spaces, lock-up garages and spaces from commercial car park operators and businesses. By including the charging points, through the partnership with Zap-Map.com, the first platform for locating EV charge points in the UK, EV drivers can book a parking spot and a charging point at the same time.

Moreover, the current users of Zap-Map will gain direct access to YourParkingSpace so they can now monetise the charge points in their driveway or even workplace.

Since charging an EV can take several hours, the concept will allow them to enjoy other activities while letting the car charge.

Future

The initiative will help increase the availability of EV charging points which is necessary to respond to the increasing demand, since the sales of EVs are in the rise. By the end of the year, 200,000 EVs are expected to be on the roads in the UK. A number which is expected to rise even more, considering the nationwide ban of new petrol and diesel cars in 20 years' time.
